Beep the Sheep

Jessie May Illustrated by Maia Batumashvili

An endearingly earnest sheep named Beep sets off on a hilarious farm adventure to find her true voice.

Beep is a little confused. As the only sheep on the farm, she doesn’t quite know what sound to make. Every morning, mimicking the tractor’s horn, Beep greets Farmer Paul not with a ‘baa’ but a ‘beep’!
But Beep doesn’t feel that this sound is quite right for her, so she sets off to gather different noises from all the animals. How about a ‘neigh’? Maybe a ‘moo’ will do?
This delightfully funny farm tale about finding your voice will engage young readers and make a perfect read-aloud book. Vibrant illustrations bring the animals and the farmyard setting to life.

  • Explores the relatable theme of finding your voice and discovering who you are
  • Rhyming, wordplay and animal sounds make it a fun read-aloud story
  • Features a vibrant, engaging and beautifully illustrated farmyard setting
Jessie May always wanted to be able to have a conversation with her dog, Buck. She wondered what he would say if he could. Unfortunately, this proved to be impossible. So instead, she decided to write stories where the impossible is possible. Where talking animals, magic and wild adventures
can all exist just because she wants them to.

Maia Batumashvili was born in Tiblisi, Georgia, in 1978. From a young age, Maia has loved to draw and is inspired by the children’s books and cartoons she grew up with. After graduating from two art institutes, Maia worked on an animation project before finally realising her dream of illustrating children’s books. When Maia is not creating imaginative worlds, she enjoys spending time with her three beautiful children and her dog, Tayo.
