Passionfruit Possum
Dr Anne-Maree Eyles
Illustrated by Francesca Corso
A lost baby possum is rescued by a girl—but will he find his way back to his mother?
In the dark of night, Baby Possum snuggles into his mother’s pouch. But when a sudden cry pierces the air, Mother Possum flees—and Baby Possum falls into a backyard pool. Alone and afraid, he’s rescued by a young girl named Ruby. Wrapped in warmth and kindness, Baby Possum begins a new chapter—but his heart longs for home. Beautifully illustrated, Passionfruit Possum is a tender and uplifting story of resilience, empathy, and the bond between mother and child— set against the unique beauty of Australian wildlife.
- A poignant and suspenseful tale that fosters empathy, emotional resilience, and understanding of wildlife.
- Highlights themes of motherhood, kindness, and care for native animals, ideal for classroom and home discussion.
- Gentle, expressive illustrations capture both the drama and tenderness of Baby Possum’s journey through moonlit gardens, bushland, and backyard life.
