Kathryn Saunders grew up in Wellington, New Zealand. When she became a teacher, she swapped city life for the countryside and now lives on a farm in the Manawatū, two hours north of Wellington. She teaches at the local country school, where on winter days she likes to sit by the fireplace in her classroom. This is where you’ll find her with a teapot close at hand, reading books to her students.
