Colin Hearfield lives on the Dorrigo plateau in northern New South Wales, Australia. His inspiration for writing stories for children is due to his five-year-old granddaughter. He remembers orally recounting the Cyclops story from Homer’s Odyssey one evening and will never forget the fierce intensity of her eyes as she insisted, with each pause in retelling, on knowing what happened next with “and then” … “and then”.
